Location: AFN, 2 rue de Paris

Timetable: Friday, 1.30pm ▶︎▶︎ 3.30pm (2 hours/week – opening of the course under certain conditions)

Beginning of the course: every first Friday of each course (you can join the class at any time).

Duration of the course: two weeks minimum.

Registration fees: 50 Euros / year

Capacity: 14 students maximum per class

Age: starting from 18 years old (or 16 years old with parental consent)

Proficiency level: all levels

Goals: 1) Improving pronunciation, making oral speech more intelligible; 2) Improving listening skills through the distinction between pronounced phonemes; 3) Improving reading and writing skills through the relation between sounds and written letters.

Syllabus : The syllabus is set and based on students’ needs and requests. The course content relies on the pronunciation mistakes made by students because of their nationality, they are organized through the opposition of minimal pairs: nasal vowels / opposition of anterior vowels/posterior vowels etc… Opposition of consonant sounds etc…

Materials and learning activities: Students will be introduced to the French phonetic chart and will be corrected according to techniques combining articulatory and verbo-tonal methods. Various activities will be organized (practice, dictation, fun exercises etc…)

Assessment: There will be no final exam. However, the teacher will assess students’ knowledge and skills all along the course (formative assessment).

When registering to this course, you will gain free access to the Resource Center of the AF de Nice, including movies, music, books and magazines/newspapers. You will also be able to join our event schedule (movie club, city tours, conversation groups, etc…) Some activities are not included, please check our monthly calendar for more information.

All classes last 60 minutes.
(language centers usually offer 45 min classes)
